MBA 530: Business Statistics
Course Description
Prerequisite: Admission to the MBA program or consent of program director. Student must have an
undergraduate level understanding of the following subjects:
business law, accounting information systems, principles of management, business statistics, computer concepts
and applications in business, marketing concepts, and business finance. This is a five week course held online through
the University’s interactive learning systems. Letter grade only (A-F). Student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (B) or better in the program.
Mode of Instruction
Traditional or Online
(a) how the instructor will communicate with the students and how the students will communicate with the instructor
(b) how online participation will be assessed and graded
(c) how the instructor will monitor the online activities of the students
(d) how the standards of appropriate online behavior will be maintained
(e) the level of technical competence required of the students
(f) what the minimum computer hardware and software requirements are for the class to support these requirements for students who cannot afford to buy the technology
(g) the alternative procedures for submitting work in the event of technical breakdowns
Student Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Identify and use library and on-line sources for research.
2. Assess personal, career and institutional resources to support the successful completion of this
course.
3. Participate fully in a learning community, meaning that they can and do contribute to the learning of their peers and engage in meaningful subject related interaction.
4. Develop a disposition for understanding business related issues and challenges in relation to the course. Further develop the ability to identify necessary resources to resolve the issue.
5. Demonstrate basic competency in academic writing at the graduate level and apply APA style correctly.

A. Statistical modeling, data analysis principals, conditional probability and concepts of quantitative analysis.
B. Develop decision-making tools
C. Evaluate the principals of regression analysis based on statistical data

[Grading policies and procedures and the percentage of the course grade associated with each assessment must be explicit on each instructor’s syllabus. Instructors must develop scoring guidelines for assessments, which must be made available to students. In compliance
with university policy, final grades will be based on at least three, and preferably four or more, demonstrations of competence. In no case will the final examination grade count for more than one third of the course grade.]
